Statesman. Born to George Tupou I, the first king of Tonga and Kalolaine Fusimatalili. He was the 1st. Prime Minister of Tonga from 1 January 1876 until 18 December 1879. He was baptised into the Christian faith on 7 August 1831. In 1879 he went to the city of Auckland for medical treatment for a liver ailment. The treatment was unable to save the Prince and he died in Auckland. His body was returned aboard the German war ship Nautilus for burial.
