Roy Devine, 84, died Monday, December 28, 1998 at his residence. Born January 1, 1914 in Washington County, he was the son of the late John Thomas and Maude Sallee Devine. He was co-owner of Harrodsburg Candy and Tobacco from 1953 until 1975. He was a member of the Harrodsburg Christian Church, where he served as Trustee and member of the Scout Hut Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Harrodsburg Lion's Club, the Harrodsburg Tourist Commission, the Chamber of Commerce, the Fort Harrod Drama Production founding committee, and was the charter Scout leader for Boy Scout Troop 127. Survivors include: his wife, Venita Shewmaker Devine, Harrodsburg; one son, Tom (Verna) Devine, Harrodsburg; one daughter, Mrs. Larry (Cheri) Cotton, Harrodsburg; one brother, Ozro Devine, New Albany, IN; one sister, Frances Gilmore, Harrodsburg; five grandchildren, two step grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 31, at the Ransdell Funeral Chapel with Dr. David Hartman officiating. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery.
