Painter. She specialized in flowers, birds, and light ink landscapes on long Chinese scrolls. Born in Shanghai, she was raised in Changzhou, Jiangsu. She attended Beijing Women's Normal Primary, and in 1918, attended Beijing Sacred Heart School. Fluent in English and French, she was employed as an interpreter by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Wellington Koo in 1920. In 1922, she was married to military officer Wang Geng, but they divorced in 1925. The following year, she married poet Xu Zhimo. After their marriage, they moved to Shanghai. Together, they wrote the play "Bian Kungang", released in 1928. Xu died in a plane crash in 1931. In 1936, she joined the Chinese Women's Painting and Calligraphy Association. In 1941, she had her solo exhibition in Shanghai. In the 1950s and 60s, she worked as an artist at the Shanghai Academy of Chinese Painting. She died of pulmonary emphysema in 1965.
