Darlene Kuhn McKenzie, age 90, of Hardin Road, Morehead, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 11, 2021, at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead.

Born September 5, 1930, in Bim, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Ernest Minnis "E. M." Kuhn and Nora Vance Kuhn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers: Lester, Eston, Elson, Wayne, Velmer, and Gene Kuhn.

Darlene is survived by her loving husband of almost 73 years, Paul Edward McKenzie, whom she married June 29, 1948; their four children: Paula McKenzie Wright and husband Ralph of Atmore, Alabama, Harley Dale McKenzie and wife Diane, Cindy Jo McKenzie, Paul Cameron McKenzie and wife Kelly, all of Morehead; five grandchildren: Jessica McKenzie, Justin McKenzie, Emily McKenzie, Casey Wright, Izak McKenzie; and two great-grandchildren: Jaiden McKenzie and Madolynn McKenzie. Other survivors include her extended family, including her church family, and dear friends.

In addition to being a homemaker, Darlene and Paul were co-owners of McKenzie Termite and Pest Control in Ashland from 1976 to 1989. A member of the First Church of God all of her married life, she and Paul were active in the Meade Station Church of God in Ashland and the Clearfield First Church of God Tabernacle after they moved to Morehead. A devout Christian, Darlene was an eager volunteer who enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher, choir member, and kitchen worker. She also served Women of the Church of God as a state officer for 20 years. Darlene was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved her family unconditionally. Even though she kept busy with her family and helping others, she found time to enjoy being an accomplished quilter, crocheter, and seamstress. Her legacy of serving the Lord, her family and friends, and anyone in need will remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be greatly missed and always remembered with appreciation and love.

A celebration of life will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals Memorial Chapel with Rev. Johnny Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Justin McKenzie, Casey Wright, Darrell McKenzie, Joe McKenzie, Chris Ellerman, and Allen Kuhn. Honorary pallbearers: Izak McKenzie and Emily McKenzie.

Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, June 14, 2021, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals, 400 Fraley Drive, Morehead, KY 40351.
