Orville "Sonny" Smith
January 12, 1941 - May 27, 2021

Mr. Orville "Sonny" Smith, 80, passed away unexpectedly at St. Vincent in Carmel, Indiana on May 27, 2021. He was born in 1941 to the late Hiram Smith Sr. and Ida Kelsey Smith in Jackson County.

Sonny was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Tabernacle. He was hired in 1965 with the Seymour Fire Department, becoming Chief and retired after 33 years of dedicated service. In 1970, he opened Broadway Antiques in Seymour.

Sonny is survived by his children, Rebecca Bearden, Doug Smith, Randy Smith; grandchildren, Scott Smith, Ashley Lounter, Lee Smith, Dylan Bearden, and great-granddaughter, Mallory Lounter; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Erika Staley, sisters, Betty Roll, Bonnie Stafford, Ruth Whittington, and Roberta "Sis" Delph, brothers, Hiram "Peewee" Smith Jr. and Otha "Duke" Smith.

Funeral services will be held on 10:30am on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at Voss & Sons Funeral Service with Rev. Larry Arrowood officiating.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, from 4-7pm at Voss & Sons Funeral Service and on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 from 9:30am until time of service at 10:30am. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

Memorials may be written to Seymour Boys and Girls Club or Riley Children's Hospital.

All arrangements have been entrusted to Voss & Sons Funeral Service in Seymour.
