American Comedian, Actor and Writer. For comedian Richard Pryor, Mooney was the head writer on 'The Richard Pryor Show,' and co-wrote some of Pryor's material on several of his comedy albums and television sketches. Mooney also wrote for television shows such as 'Sanford and Son,' 'Good Times,' 'In Living Color,' 'The Larry Sanders Show,' 'Chappelle's Show' and the reality TV parody show 'Real Husbands of Hollywood.' Among films he appeared in were 'Which Way Is Up' (1977) 'The Buddy Holly Story' (1978), 'Bustin' Loose' (1981), 'Hollywood Shuffle' (1987), 'In the Army Now' (1994), 'Bamboozled' (2000), 'The Ketchup King' (2002) and 'Meet the Blacks' (2016). He had roles in television series and made-for-TV movies such as 'Carter's Army,' ''Good Times,' 'The Old Settler' and 'Judge Mooney.' In 2007, he published a memoir titled 'Black Is the New White,' in which he wrote of his relationship with Pryor and some of his most iconic and controversial comedy sketches.
