Bali-Joy was my very first Balinese - a bluepoint. I bought him in Dec. of 1972, and he was my dream come true, as I had always wanted a Balinese ever since seeing a picture of one in the CAT FANCY magazine. A Balinese is a longhaired Siamese which started in the early 1950's from two mutation kittens out of a Siamese breeding.

In 1977 I brought in a male Balinese to breed with one of my females. During the short time this male was in my cattery, he infected one of my Balinese with FeLV (Feline Leukemia). Bali-Joy tested a high positive, and Ailuros tested a low positive. Sadly, I had to have Bali-Joy put to sleep. Since Ailuros tested a low positive, there was a chance she might not be infected. I could not risk letting her stay in my cattery, so my sister kindly took Ailuros into her home! I got to see her often, and she lived with my sister until she was 15 years old. Bali-Joy will always have a special place in my heart, and I look forward to seeing him again in Heaven.
