Ailuros was my first lilacpoint Balinese. She had such a long coat, it almost touched the ground. She was so striking, and had the sweetest disposition. Around 1977 I brought another male into my cattery to breed with one of my females. During the short time this male was in my cattery, he infected one of my cats with FeLV (feline leukemia), and Ailuros also tested positive. Bali Joy who tested a high positive had to be put to sleep. Ailuros tested a low positive, and I didn't have the heart to put her to sleep, and yet I could not risk her staying with my other cats. So my sister took Ailuros to live with her, and she lived to be 15 years old. She was tested for FeLV several times after the first test - all results were negative! Ailuros will always be special in my heart.
