Singer, Songwriter, Record Producer. Also known as Tom Chang, he was often referred to as "The Music Magician." He was best known for his ability to reach high vocal notes. Born in Magong, Penghu, Taiwan, he was the eldest child of 4 siblings. At the age of nine, he and his family moved to Taichung, Fengyuan District, and he attended Ruisui Elementary School. He would go on to attend the National Chengchi University. In 1987, he became a member and vocalist of the rock band Metal Kids. In 1988, he gained popularity for his song "My Future Is Not a Dream." In that same year, he released his first album "Always Missing You." In 1989, he released his second album "Miss Me," which he was nominated "The Best New Artist" in the 1st Golden Melody Awards. In 1995, his work focus shifted from a singer to a producer, where he would be a vocal tutor and supervisor to singer A-Mei. They would later sing a duet titled "Love Most Hurt Most," which then appeared in his album "Red Passion." On October 20, 1997, he was severely injured in a car accident caused by fatigue driving. He fell into a coma, dying 23 days later.
