Shirley Helen (Speake) Kennemer, 86 of Denton, TX passed away Thursday, May 6, 2021 in Denton. She was born in Gainesville, Texas to Roy Herman and Greta Nora (Stevens) Speake on July 5, 1934. Her mother always said she was a left-over firecracker. Shirley graduated from Denton High School in 1952 and attended North Texas State University. Shirley began her career with Moore Business Forms and retired from General Motors after 25 years of service. She enjoyed dancing, shopping at Dillard's, working crossword puzzles, and reading her romance novels. She was a lifetime member of the Lady Elks and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Joe Kennemer and her children Charles Murl Beaird, Mark Thomas Beaird, and Jana Lyn (Beaird) Watkins and husband Jim of Crossroads and their children Colton Redman Shepherd, Mariah Lyn Shepherd and Vanessa Watkins. She is also survived by her other daughters Deania Jo Redfearn and husband Wayne of Garland and their children Christi and Charlie Wayne, Nancy Hall of Denton and her children, Kelli, Tiffany and Kimberly, and Penny Rice of Denton and her son, Josh and Patsy's husband Jerry Owens of Krum and their children, Jerry Jr. and Shelli. She is also survived by her sister Bette Anderson (Arnold) of Denton, sister and brother-in-law Lena Faye (Wayne) Robinson of Forestburg and numerous nieces, nephews, great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Sterling Speake (Clay), Roy Speake, Robert Speake (Jean), Claude Speake (Evelyn) and sisters Gladys Sparkman (Babe), Mary Kay Martin (Ike), Mildred Hundley (Jinks), Bertie Calhoun, and Greta Sue Wylie (Bill).

She is also preceded in death by her grandson, Cleston Jay (CJ) Beaird and her daughter Patsy (Kennemer) Owens.

Visitation is scheduled for 12:30PM on Monday preceding the service. Funeral services are scheduled for 2PM, Monday, May 10, 2021 at DeBerry Funeral Directors with burial following at Spring Creek Cemetery.
