He was born in Millersburg on December 3, 1949 to the late Roman J. and Lizzie Ann (Beachy) Beachy and married Miriam Beachy on October 6, 1973. She survives.
After working at Sugarcreek/Holmes Lumber for 25 years, Mahlon became a sales representative for Yoder Lumber in 2004 to the present. He enjoyed serving as an Elder at Dover Alliance Church. He enjoyed traveling, photography, and the outdoors-planting his grove of trees, nurturing his lawn and bird watching. Mahlon never met a stranger. He was a friend to all.
In addition to his wife Miriam, he is survived by his children, Caleb (Lindsey) Beachy and Susanna Caldwell; grandchildren, John, Adam, and Gwen Beachy, and Elise, Wesley, Roslyn, and Mahlon Caldwell; his siblings, Mary Beachy of Sugarcreek, Paul (Erma) Beachy of Millersburg, Esther (Reuben) Miller of Sugarcreek, Reuben (Linda) Beachy of Millersburg, Martha (Mark) Miller of Sugarcreek, and Roman Jr. (Vonda) Beachy of Salmon, Idaho; special extended family, Marian Heiberger, Paula Heiberger, Denise (Dave) Gennari and Marsha (Mike) Hudgin and their children, Elizabeth (John), Matthew, Becky, and Christopher (Samantha).
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his infant sister, Fannie.
Services will be held on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Harvest Barn, 420 Dutch Valley Drive, Sugarcreek with Pastor Bruce Sexton officiating. Burial will follow in Union Hill Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 2-8 PM at Smith-Varns Funeral Home in Sugarcreek with masks being required and social distancing observed and on Monday from 9-10 AM at the Harvest Barn prior to the services.
