Christine Bottom, 91, died Tuesday, June 3, 1997 at the Friendship House in Danville. Born July 30, 1905 in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late David Smith and Lucinda Steel Bottom. She was the widow of Dewey Devine and Allen Bottom. She was an operator of Devine's Grocery and a nurse's aide. She was a member of Deep Creek Baptist Church and a Sunday School teacher for more than 60 years, and a member of the Rainbow Group at Deep Creek. Survivors include: one daughter, Edith Hawkins, Harrodsburg; a daughter-in-law, Frances Devine, Harrodsburg; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; three stepsons, five step daughters and a number of step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters, one son, Vernon Devine, and one grandson. Services for Mrs. Bottom will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 5, at the Deep Creek Baptist Church with burial in the Deep Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

She married Dewey Devine 1921.
