Actress. Born Kasmah Abdullah of Dutch and Javanese descent, she was known as the "Elizabeth Taylor of Malaysia." Before becoming a movie star, she worked in theater. She started her film career in 1947 with the movie "Cempaka." In 1952, she withdrew from the film "Antara Senyum Dan Tangis" facing controversy over the management at Shaw Brothers. She then moved to Cathay Keris Studio in Singapore, where she starred in the film "Mahsuri", which was written by Malaysian Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman. Her later films include Selendang Merah, Tangkap Basah and Ragam P. Ramlee. In 1990, she was awarded the Jury Award at the annual Asia Pacific Film Festival. She died of pneumonia.
