Jon was born and raised in San Francisco, son of John L. Heinzer and Madelene Ruth Conroy. He attended Lick Wilmerdine High School until he was 16, moving to Sacramento when his father became a state narcotics officer. Jon finished high school at Sac High, then enrolled in Sac J. C. and got a job with the State CII as a fingerprint technician. He enlisted in the Army and was sent to Germany 1953 as a private and was honorably discharged as a sergeant in 1956 when he married Diane Davidson of Sacramento. He became Chief Investigator of the Domestic Relations Department for the Sacramento District Attorney. While working for the D A he earned his Bachelors and Masters Degree. In retirement he formed a mediation business and worked for the State Supreme Court Judicial Council in San Francisco.
He liked to work on remodeling his homes. They enjoyed live theater, the symphony, sailing, and traveling around N. America, the British Virgin Islands, Europe, Costa Rica and Hawaii. He was a member of Oak Park Methodist Church, then Westminster Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and Elder. He was a member of the Irish Beach Improvement Club Board and served 3 terms on the Water Board.
He leaves his wife Diane, son Bryan (Kathy), grandson David (Lexi) and great grandson Bodhi, son Marc (Angela), grandchildren Zachary and Alexa, brother-in-law Cliff Bales, and nephew Keith Bales (Winnie) & Delany, nephew Jay Conroy and family: Casey (Bobby) Baksa and Joey, Kyle, nephew Michael Conroy (Janie) and family: Brennan and Meredith, nephew Patrick Conroy (Terese) and family Kelly and Sean Conroy-Dey (Sarah) and their six children.
A memorial service will be held when COVID 19 restrictions are lifted at East Lawn Cemetery on Folsom Blvd, date to be announced.
