Isaac STRONG died Sunday at his home near Mansfield after a long illness. A short funeral service was held at the house yesterday at 9 A.M., a largely attended funeral service was held at 11 A.M. from the Mansfield M.E. Church by Rev J.A. Russell, J. W. Needham and Joseph Davis. Burial was in the Mansfield Cemetery. He is survived by widow and six children Mrs. Harry Oxford, Cottonwood Falls, Kansas, Mrs. Lucretia Dunbar, Roy, New Mexico, Mrs J.A. Hamilton , Unity, Canada, Sam Strong, Mansfield, Miss Opal Buffalo a grand-daughter also made her home with the family. All were present at the funeral except Mesdames Hamilton and Dunbar.


Isaac Strong one of the most prominent citizens of Wright county died at his home south of Mansfield one day last week. Mr. Strong was born and raised five miles north of Hartville. He was a consistent Christian gentleman and during his sixty years was identified with every progressive movement and every movement for civic righteousness in the history of the county. He leaves a widow and several children. Obituary will appear later.

Isaac Strong aged about 60 years who lived near Mansfield died on Sunday of this week after several months illness with dropsy of the heart. Mr. Strong was rated as one of the county's most progressive and best citizens and was a faithful member of the Methodist church. He was the son of John Strong a pioneer citizen of the county who died a short time since at an advance age. The deceased was born and reared a few miles north of this city on the farm now owned by Rev. J. A. Russell. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. A. Russell and the body was buried in the Mansfield cemetery Wednesday. Mr. Strong leaves a companion and a number of children to mourn his departure.

A good man in Israel has fallen and gone to his great reward, Brother Isaac Strong departed this life from his home near Mansfield, Mo., January 16th 1916 at 3:30pm. He was born in Wright Co. March 27th 1855. He was married to Miss Frances Odle, March 23rd 1876. To said union was born seven children. He is survived by six children and his dear companion. One of his brothers James Strong is an Elder in the M. E. Church of very high standing.

He has made Wright county his home all his life. Brother Strong gave his heart to God about 1870 and from then until now his life has been on the Lord's side, and has been a consecrated faithful christian to the After his regeneration, he joined the M. E. Church at Brush Creek (four miles north of Hartville) and remained a member until sixteen years since he joined the Pleasant Valley Cumberland Presbyterian Church of which he was a member at the time of his death. He told the family and others that he was prepared for his great change and told them not to be afraid of doing too much in the service of the Lord.

His suffering was intense, but he said: "I ought not to complain, I think of the suffering in the European war and I have not an enemy in all the world. He made his own arrangements for his funeral. He and his wife had taken one of his grand children, Opal Buffalo and raised her and he made her an equal heir in his will. His funeral service was conducted by Rev. Needham of the M. E. Church, Joseph Davis and the writer, at the M. E. Church in Mansfield 19th inst., in the presence of a very large congregation of friends and relatives and his body laid in its last resting place in the Mansfield cemetery. It is very sad to give up such loved and good men, but Heaven is made the richer. J. A. Russell.
