Nationalist. He was a member of the Rukun 13, an active organisation in the Anti-cession movement of Sarawak. It was a secret cell organisation composed of nationalists, which carried out assassinations of officers of the British Colonial government in Sarawak. He was born in 1932, and started his career as a teacher until 1947. He wrote a nationalistic poem titled "Panggilan Mu yang Suchi" which was published in Utusan Sarawak in 1948. In that same year he joined Rukun 13. On December 4th, 1949, he, along with a few others assassinated Duncan George Stewart, the Govenor of Sarawak. Rosli was arrested, and Stewart was flown back to Kuching for treatment, where he died a week later. Dhobi was sentenced to death in 1950. Originally buried within the prison compound, he was reburied at his home town of Sibu.
