Mr.. Beaulieu Dies, Headed Groton Firm

GROTON -- Joseph Paul Beaulieu, 74, of 21 Elderkin Avenue, retired proprietor of the Joseph P. Beaulieu & Sons Co., died Sunday at 2:05 p.m. at Lawrence Memorial Hospital where he was admitted March 21.
Mr. Beaulieu operated his own business since 1946. After retiring he was a school crossing guard at Poquonnock Road and Mitchell Street. He was a molder at the former New London Sip & Engine Co., and Electric Boat. Co., from 1920 - 1946.
Born March 19, 1899 in Livermore Falls, Maine, he was the son of Paul and Josephine Babineau Beaulieu.
He was a Navy veteran of World War I.
A charter member of the Groton Lodge of Elks, he was a member of Sacred Heart Church' Groton Post, American Legion; Griswold Barracks, World War I Vets and the Submarine Veterans of the World Wars.
His wife Ester Mayer Beaulieu, died in September 1970.
Survivors include four sons, Raymond E. and Robert E. of Groton, George of Bethany, Oklahoma, and Air Force Lt. Col. Joseph P. Beaulieu Jr. of McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey; two brothers, George of Livermore, Maine and Joseph A.. Beaulieu of Gloverville, NY., five sisters, Mrs. Alfred J. Flechette of Groton, Mrs. Coa Pineau of Augusta,, Maine, Mrs. Eva McKinney of East Greenbush, NY, Mrs. Helen Desjardins of Auburn, Maine and Mrs. Laura Doyle of Melbourne, Fla., 20 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday from Byles Groton Memorial Home to a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 at Sacred Heart Church. Internment will be in St.. Mary's Cemetery, New London.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 tonight.
