• Son of William & Margaret Taylor of Bolton, England. Husband of Mary Ellen Taylor of Bolton, England.
• Enlisted with the Welland Canal Force (S/N 975) during WW1 as a member of the Non-Permanent Active Militia. At the outbreak of WW1 in 1914 in Niagara, Ontario the 19th "Lincoln" Regiment and the 44th "Lincoln and Welland" Regiment were placed on Active Duty and detailed to provide the core of the Welland Canal Force, the mission of which was to guard the locks and shipping facilities along the Welland Canal.
• Recipient of the Good Conduct Medal.
