Funeral service was held last Friday at United Presbyterian Church, Gibson, for James McKay, 76, who died June 16th. The service was held by the Rev. C A Pollock. Mr. McKay was born August 28, 1860 in County Derry, Ireland. He spent his early year in Ireland and Scotland and later came to this country and lived in Philadelphia, PA. February 28, 1887 he was married to Anne Selfridge. After a few years they went to Illinois, coming to Iowa in 1916. With the exception of ten years he lived in his home in Gibson, he has lived on his farm where he died. He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church at Gibson. Surviving are five sons and three daughters, William of What Cheer, James with whom he lived, Sam, George, and John of Gibson. Mary Christie of Marshall, Sask., Canada; Elizabeth Moore or Thornburg, and Della of New Sharon, one sister, Mrs. Sam Rogers, and one brother, George both of What Cheer. He was preceded in death by his wife Annie, two sons, Harry and Earnest, a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Christie, and a baby daughter who died in infancy.Father: William McKay 1824-1889 buried in Ireland
