Evan Jones was born in York State October 22, 1833, and departed this life March 15, 1915 aged 81 years, 5 months, and 22 days. He moved with his parents to Ohio when he was a small boy. The deceased was converted in early life and united with the Presbyterian church. He was united in marriage to Miss Minerva Brown on the 20th of August, 1857. To this union were born six children, three sons and three daughters, for of whom are still living; Lorenzo, Ransom, Malissa, and Now Mrs. Ivan Snodgrass, and Rhoda the wife of Jacob Hubbell. The family moved to Iowa in 1869. Since coming to Iowa he has been a faithful member of the M.P. Church. He leaves to mourn his loss, four children, a brother and a sister, besides the grandchildren and a large circle of friends. The funeral services were held at the M.P. Church and conducted by the Rev Gray, the pastor. The interment was made in the Bailey Cemetery, southwest of town. The sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of all in their bereavement.
