Samuel McCall Dead

Samuel McCall, aged 74 years, (?) months and 28 days, died at the home of his son 3 miles northwest of Caney last Friday July 26th, after an illness of several months. The direct cause of his death was heart failure.
The funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at 5 o'clock at the M. E. church in this city, Rev. Harmon Allen officiating. The body was taken to Nowata, Oklahoma to be buried beside that of his wife who died some years ago.
Mr. McCall was born in Ohio, on December 31st, 1837. He first come to Kansas in 1859 and settled in Chase County. In 1863 he moved to Iowa where he lived for four years then moving to Missouri where they lived until in December 1895 when he went to Oklahoma. In 1902 the family moved to Chautauqua county. About three
years ago Sam Jr. bought a farm northwest of Caney and his father had lived with him here since. Mr. McCall was well known in Caney having owned property here and did considerable trading with our people. The sympathy of the community is extended to the bereaved relatives.

Samuel McCall married Mary Elisabeth Nutt, Dec. 11, 1867 in Nodway Co. MO.
Their children were: Moses Varnham McCall; Clara B. McCall Pope; and Samuel McCall, Jr.
Mary McCall died Oct. 1, 1899 and is buried in Nowata.
