Walter Oakley was the youngest son of Joseph Oakley and Mary Ellen Almond - with 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Walters' father, Joseph Oakley was killed 19 June 1914 in the Hillcrest Mine disaster.

"WALTER OAKLEY passed away Thursday, March 12, 1998 at the Long Term Care Centre in Blairmore, Alberta at the age of 87 years.
Walter was born June 15, 1910 in Natal, B.C. For many years he operated the Rangeland Motor Hotel in Lundbreck. He was a resident of the Long Term Care Centre in Blairmore at the time of his passing.

Walter was predeceased by 5 brothers, 3 sisters, and a son Douglas.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy, a son Tom (Gail) and a daughter, Joyce as well as one brother, one sister and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation. At Walter's request, no service will be held but if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Long Term Care Centre in Blairmore, c/o Crowsnest Pass Health Foundation Box 455 Blairmore, Alberta T0K 0E0.
