He went through a six-year legal battle to reclaim his name and image from his former business partner, and won. In January 2012, he suffered a heart attack and recovered at the Cleveland Clinic. In the fall of 2019, he attended a museum opening in Florida celebrating his 50 years in show business, and died of kidney failure several days later. His life was the subject of a documentary titled Mucho Mucho Amor airing on Netflix.
