My Great-Great Gramdmother was born in Canada to parents who were from England.

She married William A Simms on January 1, 1857, and was mother to Eva, Loretta, William, John and my Great-Grandmother, Ida B Simms Washburn.

The eulogy (found in a family bible) at her funeral is as follows:

Mrs. Diana Leach Sims was born of English parents in Canada March 30, 1837, and departed with this life at her home in Logansport, Indiana on August 31, 1909. Age 72 years, 5 months, and 1 day. When two years of age she, with her parents, came to Indiana and settled in Fort Wayne. On January 1, 1857 she was united in marriage with William A Sims, and for 52 years they lived happily to-gether. To this union seven children were born, five of whom are living, namely Mrs Ida Washburn, Mrs Retta Kahler, Mrs Eva Korner, William and John Sims. All of this city except Mrs Washburn whose home is in Star City. Sister Sims was a member of Wheatland Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church of Logansport. Although in her declining years she was not able to attend church, yet she was glad to have her Pastor come and pray with her. I have had the pleasure of being in the home several times, and it has always been a benidication to my soul to hear her sweet voice. There was music in her voice as she would speak in a trembling tone that would convince anyone that Jesus was hers. Such a voice as that will ring forever in my ears.

A kind and loving Mother, as well as a good and devoted wife has gone to her eternal rest. Jesus said, "I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go to prepare a place for you I will come again and receive you unto myself, that where I am there you may be also. Certainly she is there.

Written by Ellery Channing Dunn, Pastor, Wheatland Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church in Logansport, Indiana
