Bertha
Wife of I.F. Barger
Gone But Not Forgotten
Sweet seventeen-year-old, Bertha Green, married my great-grandfather, Isaac Franklin Barger, on April 22, 1891 in Jay County, Indiana. Four years later, they celebrated the birth of their first and only child, a son, whom they named Harold Green Barger.
Three short years later, Isaac and Harold suffered the untimely death of Bertha. She was only twenty five years old.
Three years passed and in 1901, Isaac married my very sweet and gentle great-grandmother, Mattie Velona "Lona" Quick. She lovingly raised six-year-old Harold as her own.
