Mustered In: March 4, 1864
Discharged, date unknown; for wounds received at Laurel Hill, May 8, 1864.
George was the son of Daniel Clingaman who served with Captain Thomas Shriver in the War of 1812, Pa. Militia.
Daniel first married Rebecca Hoffman in 1820 and George is the child of Daniel Clingaman and Rebecca Hoffman.
Rebecca must have died as Daniel married second to Margaret Hoffman (probably his sister-in-law) and they had more children.
In 1866 Daniel, living in Morgantown, received a pension for his war service. It is his application where I learned of his two wives. He was living in Reading as late as 1877.
It is unknown where George Clingaman's father, Daniel is buried. It may be either Charles Evans in Reading or in Chester county with his first wife.
