Martha Brill Causey passed away peacefully on September 9, 2013 at the home of her son, Thomas Causey in Pasadena, CA with her two sons at her side. A life-long resident of Shreveport, Martha was born on April 21, 1931 to Louise and Raymond George Brill. Her father died when she was a young girl and she was raised on Olive Street by her mother and grandmother, Martha Harris Causey, who was affectionately known as 'Big Mama'. Martha graduated from C. E. Byrd High School and married Thomas Causey in 1949. She was a homemaker and lived in the Shreve Island area for over 50 years. She enjoyed visiting with friends, doting on her boys, playing bridge and preparing an astonishing array of southern dishes including a barbeque that was legendary amongst her family and friends. She loved strawberries, hummingbirds, gardenias, and all things to do with Christmas. Martha followed and delighted in her sons careers in Hollywood and the theatre. She was particularly close with her brother Karl. Martha was a long-time and active member of Noel Methodist Church.

Martha is survived by her two sons, Thomas Dewitt Causey and his wife Katherine Sullivan of Pasadena, CA, Matthew Dixon Causey and his wife Dorothy Gene Fisher of Dublin, Ireland and her grandsons Jesse Causey and Tennessee Causey, and step-grandsons Kyle Black, Tyler Black, Paul Black and Walker Stern; her nieces and nephews, Mike Brill, Martha Brill, Mark Brill, Raymond Brill, Katherine Brill, Carter Brill, Emily Lafitte, Lanier Lafitte and Louise Lafitte, and her sister-in-law Eileen Brill, and life-long friends Molly and Melvin Weldon.

Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Causey, her brothers Karl and Raymond Brill, her mother and father Louise Benson and Raymond George Brill.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11am at Forest Park Cemetery, 3700 St. Vincent Ave., Shreveport, Louisiana.
