Peter Van Gaale passed away on his 63rd birthday on Saturday, July 10, at Loma Linda Hospital due to heart-related complications. Peter, a longtime resident of Murrieta, is survived by his mother, Anna; wife, Henny; three sons, Paul, Mark and Jan; siblings Hank, Hennie, Anneke and John; and countless nieces, nephews and grandchildren (all with special nicknames given to them personally by Pete).

Peter (aka Ace) emigrated from Holland with his family and settled in Artesia in 1954. His father, Jan Van Gaale, started a family business in carpentry in which Pete accepted a crucial role at a young age. Being the oldest of five children, Pete took the responsibility of providing for the family during the day and obtaining his education at night.

Pete's ambition inspired him to continue in his father's footsteps, opening his own business, Peter Van Gaale & Sons Construction, in 1988. His reputation of Old World craftsmanship combined with his honest personality and family values enabled his business to grow and his friendships to blossom. His dedication to community service was proven through his 40 years of participation as an active member of the Lions Club.

Pete was a loving and devoted husband, celebrating his 35th wedding anniversary last month. He was a truly dedicated father and best friend to his three sons who had the utmost respect for him. His love for his wife and family was known to every person who crossed his path. We will miss you Pete, for "only the good die young".
