Wells: The Frontier Town of Maine, Vol.1, by Esselyn Gilman Perkins -- "In 1705, Hannah (Littlefield), wife of Joseph Hill, and a daughter of Francis Littlefield, Jr., was suprised while away from her home . She was cruelly scalped and left for dead. She lay quite still in a potato patch until the Indians left, then wrapped her bleeding head in her apron and managed to reach home. Hannah (Littlefield) Hill lived to bear a son Nathaniel - perhaps send to ease the loss of the two sons who had been killed a few years before (by Indians)."
