Electronic Music Artist. He founded the electronic music group "Kraftwerk" with Ralf Hütter in 1970. He had previously played in Pissoff with Eberhard Kranemann from 1967 to 1968. His first instrument was the flute that he would play with electronic effects. He also played violin and guitar. He created an electronic flute instrument and his use of acoustic instruments practically stopped after the release of Kraftwerk's 1974 album, Autobahn. David Bowie titled his Heroes' instrumental track V-2 Schneider after him. Schneider's approach was concentrated on sound design and vocoding/speech-synthesis which was patented as the Robovox, a distinctive feature of the Kraftwerk sound. His last appearance with Kraftwerk was in November 2006 in Spain. It was said that he left the band in November 2008 and on January 6, 2009, his departure was confirmed. He died from cancer on April 21, 2020. In 2021, Kraftwerk were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
