Arley's obituary read: "Arley Dunavan, 69, of Oakwood Route 1, a resident of the Oakwood community for the past 36 years, died at 7:03 P.M. Sunday (April 24, 1960) at St. Elizabeth Hospital where he had been a patient one day. Born February 6, 1891, south of Union Corner, he was the son of Annis and Carrie Cravens Dunavan. He was married January 3, 1915 in Danville to Rosa Mendenhall, who survives. Mr. Dunavan was a retired coal miner and had attended the Grays Siding Nazarene Church.
Other survivors include a son, Glen of Oakwood; five daughters, Mrs. Helen Ellis, Mrs. Martha J. Fegett and Mrs. Carol Rouse, all of Danville, Mrs. Ruby Vestel of Oakwood Route 1 and Mrs. Jo Ann Nixon of Hobart, Indiana; tow brothers, Ora of LaJunta, Colorado, and Fred of Danville; three sisters, Mrs. Iva Hughes of Olney Springs, Colorado, Mrs. Elva Wyatt and Mrs. Lola Esworthy, both of Danville; nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
The body is at the Johnson Funeral Home in Oakwood where services will be at 2 P.M. Wednesday. The Rev. Ray Finley of Canton will officiate, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends will be received after 7 P.M. Monday."
