BILL LAVORGNA

Bill LaVorgna, 74, passed away on Tuesday, July 31,2007 after suffering a heart attack while walking his dog on Saturday, July 28th at his home in Stuart. Born in Paterson, NJ on June 3, 1933, he was an accomplished musician, drummer, and musical director for Liza Minnelli for the past 32 years. Bill spent over six decades performing with musical greats from Judy Garland to Dizzy Gillespie in worldwide venues.

A Korean war veteran, he attended schools in New Jersey and held degrees in music and education from New York University.

Before moving to Florida, he made his residence in Princess Anne, MD for 20 years. Prior to that, the family lived in Walton, NY and Sussex, NJ.

Aside from his musical passion, Bill was also an avid sportsman with a love of the outdoors and most especially deep sea fishing.

The family raised and trained sporting dogs for decades on their Windswept Farm.

Bill is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joan, his three sons ( Mark, Blaise and David) of Maryland and six granddaughters.

Memorial contributions may be made to either The Salvation Army or The Recreational Fishing Alliance (PO Box 3080, New Gretna, NJ 08224).

Services: A memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 12th at 2:00 PM at Trinity United Methodist Church in Salisbury, MD for friends and family.
