"John Bartkowski, 642 Boulevard Ave., Dickson City, died Sunday at home. His wife, the former Mary Szczepanski. died Aug. 20, 1990.
Born in Dickson City, son of the late Frank and Antoinette Rolka Bartkowski, he was a graduate of Dickson City public schools, Lackawanna Junior College and St. Thomas College and was formerly employed by Hudson Coal Co. Prior to retirement, he worked for Clark and Rapuano Consulting Engineers, Buffalo, N.Y.
A member of St. Marys Visitation Church, Dickson City, and its Holy Name Society, he was active in the Democratic Party in his younger days and served 12 years on the Dickson City Council.
Surviving are two daughters, Miss Lorraine, Mount Vernon, N.Y., and Mrs. Andrea Ketch, Denver, Colo.; three sons, John Jr., Fairless Hills; Eugene, Buffalo, N.Y.; and Ronald, Chicago, 111.: two sisters, Sister M. Jolanta, Felician Order, Philadelphia, and Mrs. Helen Myak, Dickson City; three brothers, Hilary, Alex and Walter, all of Dickson City; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A daughter, Elaine, preceded him in death.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 9 a.m. from the Frank Mazur Funeral Home. 519 Dundaff St., Dickson City, with Mass at 9:30 in St. Mary Visitation Church. Entombment, Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call today, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m."
