preferable to use the Field of Mars Cemetery. There is no record of John dying in 1840 (entry in NSW BDM is of an infant at Port Macquarie. The book the Second Fleet: Britain's Grim Convict Armada of 1790 Sydney by Michael Flynn suggests that he was born circa 1773.

The former Balmain Cemetery was renamed Pioneers Memorial Park in 1941 to commemorate the pioneers of the district. The site received over 10,000 burials of 24 different religious denominations. All but 126 of the burials occurred before December 1908.
