Syrilda Carrabine Helgren, a lifelong resident of Larchmont, passed away on December 16, 2015. She was 100 years old. She was born in Brooklyn and moved to Larchmont in 1918 as a small child. Syrilda graduated from Mamaroneck High School, and later she received a bachelor's degree from Cortland College.
She married Dr. Robert E. Helgren at her family home in 1940.
She was president of The Larchmont Woman's Club from 1970-1972. She was a master swimmer and Senior Olympian. Her Hobbies included needlepoint, swimming, dancing, and family.
She is survived by her husband of 75 years, her daughter Terry Rainaldi and her son David Helgren. Also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
