On January 14, 2017, Ernest passed away after a brief illness.

He will be loving remembered and sadly missed by his seven children, Dominic (Pat), Maria (Murray) Piper, Paul (Lily), Gerard (Jenni), Teresa Griffiths, Kieran (Melanie) and Stephen (Linda); and daughter-in-law Sharon. He will also be missed by his 18 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and two more soon to arrive.

Ernest was predeceased by his wife Joan; son-in-law Philip Griffiths; and mother-in-law Edith Turner.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the South Side Memorial Chapel, 8310 104 Street, Edmonton. Ernest will be laid to rest by his wife at Our Lady Peace Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cross Cancer Institute. The family would like to expend special thanks to the staff at the Devonshire Mews and the nurses at the Royal Alex Hospital for their care and support.
