Mr. Poots began his journey with us as a very tiny kitten. He was skin and bones, had ear mites and I can't remember the issue he had with his eyes. We took him to the vet, and with his help, and our other cat, Mr. Smoke aka Mr. Mother, he was good to go. My sister-in-law had found him in her yard some where. Either he was abandoned or got lost from his original family, we don't know exactly what. My sister-in-law brought him over to our house to keep until she got back from whatever she had to do. She said she would take him in. When my husband got home from work, he said we'd just keep him because he felt he didn't have a fighting chance, that they would euthanize him. We thought he was a "female" so we proceeded to give him a name. We took him to the vet, who quickly knew that he wasn't female but male. We found out too that he was only about 6-7 ounces. We got medicine for everything and took him home. Him and Smokey, our other cat, became best buddies. He made up for lost time in the eating department. He loved food. He weighed a hearty 20 lbs. at one point.

He was a part of our family for over 13 and a half years. It was hard on him I think when Smokey passed away in January. I tried extra hard to make sure he wasn't lonely. Being our last cat, I didn't want to lose him after just losing Smokey in January. However, fate had another story to tell. About three months or so ago he started urinating and defecating all over the house, which wasn't like him. We took him to the vet and after the lab work came back, found out he had thyroid issues and stage 2 kidney disease. Trying to treat the thyroid condition makes the kidney disease worse. He didn't last long, in spite of everyone's best efforts. He left us on July 30th at a little after 4:00 p.m. His suffering ended thank God, but ours just begun. My heart is broken.
