Ringling - Memorial Services for Van Roland Jackson, 74, of Ringling will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday April 18, 2019 at Alexander Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Ringling with Rev. John Marks officiating. Cremation services are under the direction of Alexander Gray Crematory of Ringling.

Van was born September 17, 1944 in Ardmore to the late Mr. Dana Biffle Jackson, Sr and Mrs. Frances Elizabeth (Roland) Jackson. He departed this life on Sunday April 14, 2019 at his home in Ringling.

Mr. Jackson graduated from Manzano High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico and in 1967 he graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Education. In the fall of 1967 he began his teaching career in Denver High School and remained there for two years. From Denver he traveled to the Kwajalein Island of the Republic of the Marshall Islands, it was here he taught English for 3 years to the young people whose parents worked at the Army installation dedicated to supporting the missions of the U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command. At the completion of several years Van moved to Baton Rouge, LA and received a Masters Degree in Social Work and worked for the Louisiana State Dept of Corrections as a Rehabilitation Counselor. From Louisiana Van moved to San Diego and began his career with California State Dept of Social Services and retired in 2004. After retiring he moved back to Ringling and enjoyed being with his family and having time to devote to his main hobby of reading.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dana and Frances Jackson.

Survivors include a sister, Jana Tessier of Corona, CA and a brother, Biff and wife Frances Ann of Ringling; nephews, Kevin, David, & Stephen Biggs; John and Gayla Jackson of Sulphur; Dana B. and Susan Jackson of Sherwood, AR.

Honorary Bearers will be Mike Moore, Mike Brooks, Sonny Morriss, Henry McDaniel, Ray Don Madewell and Tom Jones.
