James R. Elliott was born 7 Aug 1954 in Ft. Dodge Hospital in Ft. Dodge, Webster Co, IA. His family was residing at Manson at this time. He was delivered by Dr. John Faust who became a longtime close friend of the family

Jim attended grade schools in Sioux City, Des Moines, IA, and Topeka, KS. He graduated from Hoover High School in Des Moines in 1973. He participated in debate, wrestling and scouting and went on a backpacking trip in New Mexico with his Troop.

He has been heavily involved in church activities since his sophomore year in high school. He graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education in 1978 and taught a short time in Crosby, TX. In 1991 he was attending Friends Seminary School in Houston, TX. Like his brothers, he is an avid fisherman.

He is preceded in death, by his parents Alma Barna Elliott, and Loren Spencer Elliott and his brother Robert Loren Elliott.

Jim is survived by his brother Mark Stephen Elliott and his wife Susan Warren, sister-in-law Margaret Doyle-Elliott as well as niece and nephews, Alicia Catherine Elliott, Mathew Ryan (Patty) Elliott, and Sean Robert Elliott.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Monday, March 11, 2019 where friends may call beginning at 12:30 p.m. at Iles Westover Funeral Home in Des Moines with burial to follow in Glendale Cemetery.
