Newett "Nute" Easterling (1804-1844) was the son of Samuel Easterling (1778-1842) of Marlboro SC. The Easterlings moved to Autauga County AL about 1828 with other SC families (Mims and Popwell) for better farming opportunities and to take advantage of land grants being offered to veterans of the War of 1812. Nute was married to Mary Ann "Polly" Mims on 24 December 1833 in Autauga county Ala. He and Polly were landowners in Autauga county by 1837 and they had the following children in Autauga county AL before Newett died around 1844. Polly Easterling married (2nd) James Moats on 11 Aug 1846 Autauga co:
