Harold was born June 18, 1934, the son of Henry and Emma (Swenseth) Ruud of Mapes, ND. He attended country school, Center #1 through 8th grade, and continued to stay on the farm and help with farming. In 1956-59 Harold served in the Army and was stationed in Germany.
He married Clarine Helland June 27, 1964 and together they had 3 children. Harold and Clarine owned and operated a farm and raised cattle.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, brother Elden, sister Lois Rosenow, brothers-in-law John Lindvall and Arnold Haugen, nephew Bradley Haugen, grand-nephews Paul Fiebiger and Tim Lindvall.
