Mrs. Johnson was born in Columbus on Feb. 15, 1931, to the late Lelia and Governor Spruill. She was formerly a teacher’s aid with Lowndes County Headstart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Herman Johnson and Michael Johnson; five brothers, O’Roy Spruill, Henry Spruill, Connell Spruill, O. C. Spruill and Irvin Spruill; and three sisters, Arlee Childs, Izola Foster and Lessie Smith. She is survived by her husband, Willie Johnson of Houston; sons, Willie Larry Johnson of Lansing, Michigan, Gil Johnson of Duarte, Georgia and Christopher Johnson of Houston; daughters, Patricia Johnson of Savannah, Georgia, Andrea Cunningham of Tupelo, Dalphene Scott of Pflugerville, Texas and Phyllis Johnson of Houston; brother, Willie Bob Spruill of Mansfield, Ohio; sister, Dorothy Harris of Chicago; 24 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Pallbearers are Jim Cunningham, Roman Scott, Christopher H. Johnson, James Johnson, Joseph Cunningham and Ethan Webber.
