Isaac McGuire - Columbia, June 23, a veteran of the Civil War, died in the Columbia Hospital Saturday evening at 5:50 o'clock, from complication following an operation. He was 76 years old and had served as a private in the Twentieth Pennsylvania Calvary during the war. After the war he enlisted in the regular army and served with Seventh Calvary, General George A. Custer's regiment at he time of the massacre of Custer and his troops by the Indians at the Little Big Horn. He escaped their fate only by a few hours having been sent away on special duty. He was a member of General Welsh Post, No. 118 G.A.R. and was a regular attendant at the meetings. He had the distinction of also of having attended the funerals of nearly all members of the Post who died since he had been a member.

He is survived by daughter and two sons, Mrs. John Shand, Lancaster, Isaac, at home, and Elwood, at Harrisburg, three sisters also survive, Mrs. Gompf, Mrs. Shindle and Mary McGuire of Lancaster. Service will be held Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock from the Howard and Leber Undertaking Parlors, Eighty and Locust streets. Burial will be in Mount Bethel Cemetery.
