Felilia was born in 1933 in Hirlau, Romania to Dr. Joseph Alter and his wife Janneta. Felilia and her family were deported to the Transnistria area in 1941 along with thousands of other Ukrainian and Romanian Jews. While they were there, the family stayed in a modest shack. Not long after they arrived, the shack was set on fire with the family still inside, killing all of them.
