Parents Whitt Turnerhill and Annie Grigsby

Eloise was born on February 19, 1928 in Rule, Texas to the late Whitt and Anna Turnerhill. In addition, she was preceded by death two sons, Billy and Charles E.; three brothers, Bill, Wilton, and Jimmy; three sisters, Virgie Lee, Penny Mae, and Irma; and first husband, Charles E. Jones, Sr.
At an early age Eloise accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at New Light Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas under the pastor ship of Rev. A. Heard. She graduated from Carver high school in Abilene, Texas. In 1944 she met and married Charles E. Jones, Sr. and four sons were born of this union, Charles E. Jr., Don Ray, Billy Lynn, and Tyrone. Beginning in the 60s, Eloise was president of the Booker T. Washington PTA and was the first black manager of Walgreen's Drug Store downtown before retiring after 20 years. Eloise was active in the community by having airmen from Sheppard Air Force Base in her home providing home cooked meals during holidays; delivering for Meals On Wheels in the community and at her church. In her church she worked in the kitchen, did carpentry, painted, acted as caregiver for elderly members, and served as President of the Lovely Working Circle for many years before her health began to fail.
Eloise loved God and family. Those that will miss her most are: Clemmie, husband of 42 years; sons Don Jones (Wanda) and Tyrone (Cheryl), both of Greenville, Texas; daughter-in-laws Rosie of Odessa, Texas and Deborah of Wichita Falls, whom she loved so much; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends, too many to name.
The family would like to extend special thanks to: Arthur B Williams, Janice Waldon and Marie Johnson, friends for life; Andrea Williams, goddaughter; Sandy, next-door neighbor that took care of Eloise and Mr. Felder. God bless you all.
