Actress. Born Norma Roman, she made her feature film debut in "Jungle Queen" (1945) and went on to be one of Hollywood's most prolific figures. Among her many credits are "Champion" (1949), "Strangers on a Train" (1951), "Blowing Wind" (1953), "The Far Country" (1955), "Look in Any Window" (1961) and "Day of the Animals" (1977). For television, she appeared on "I Spy", "The Bing Crosby Show", "Knott's Landing" and "Murder She Wrote". She also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. On July 25, 1956, she and her three year old son, Dickie, were returning to New York from Italy aboard the Italian luxury liner "Andrea Doria" when it was struck broadside by the Swedish liner, "Stockholm." The tragedy took the lives of 51 of the Italian ship's passengers and crew and the "Doria" itself capsized and sank eleven hours after the collision.
