Services for Mrs. Kate B. Algea, 63, teacher, will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at George A. Smith and Sons Main Street Chapel with Dr. Jack Henton and the Rev. Morton Waller officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Algea, a native of Henderson, died today at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Memphis, after a short illness. She was a graduate of Bethel College and a member of First United Methodist Church and of the Professional Teachers Association. She had taught 23 years in Jackson City Schools, including 16 years at Jackson Central-Merry High School. She leaves her widower, William Algea of Jackson; a son, Dr. William Algea III of Memphis; a daughter, Mrs. Katherine Wardlow of Bolivar; her father, H. C. Burkhead of Henderson; three sisters, Mrs. C. M. Herron and Miss Frances Burkhead, both of Henderson, and Mrs. Kenneth Hollis of McGhee, AR; a brother, C. E. Burkhead of Hyattsville, MD; and two granchildren. Pallbearers are Clyde Freeman, Charlie Cobb, Fred Stanley, Kenneth Watlington, John Pechonick, and Paul Davenport.
