Virginia "Gina" Johnson
1950 - 2017
Virginia "Gina" Johnson passed away Friday, Oct 13, 2017, at Chateau Gardens Memory Care, Springfield, OR. After a long and sometimes difficult struggle with Alzheimer's disease, the Lord called her home to her eternal rest.
Gina was born in Artesia, California to Manuel and Minnie Govea Lugo. In 1976 she married Randy Johnson. In January 1977, on a whim, they moved to Oregon where they made Eugene their home. Together they lived, they loved and they laughed. It was said you could always tell which was the Johnson house; it was the one with all the laughter.
She held numerous jobs, most notably she worked at Spectre Physics for 20 years. But her favorite occupation was that of wife and mother. She enjoyed all holidays, especially Christmas. She immensely enjoyed decorating her home to celebrate the season. Gift shopping for her friends and loved ones gave her much happiness. Gina had a special knack of making people smile and be happy. She and Randy worked together at buying, repairing and selling old houses, fixer-uppers. They lived in these "fixer-uppers" while they were repairing them. In spite of faulty plumbing, leaking roofs, and questionable heat, Gina never complained. Eventually, they were able to move into the house of Gina's dreams.
Gina and her husband were members of Bethesda Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Minnie. She is survived by her husband Randy of Eugene, daughter Traci of Seattle, WA., two brothers and two sisters of southern California.
A very special thanks to all the folks at Chateau Gardens Memory Care. They did an amazing job of loving and caring for Gina during this very difficult time in her life: Thank you Chateau Gardens.
Services will be Monday November 6, 2017 at Artesia Cemetery, Cerritos, CA. 90703
Arrangements entrusted to Musgrove Family Mortuary.
