Son of Joseph Shotwell & Sarah Cock

Henry Shotwell inherited homes on site of Rahway Bank Building, on corner of Poplar & Main Street. North of PA Railroad. The old buildings were destroyed by fire in spring of 1844.
He took cert NY MM on 18 8m 1773 and returned to Rahway, cert Plainfield dated 3 6m 1778.

In 1821, he exchanged one half of his interest in Milton Mill for farm of Joseph King, at head of Derby Lane. Explained by Marmaduke Hunt; between farms of Thomas Laing & James Hunt in township of Woodbridge, about one to one and half miles from mill, dated 24 8m 1824. Henry married Sarah Dobson, daughter of Thomas Dobson, on 18 7m 1781. Their children: Joseph Dobson Shotwell and Sarah Shotwell (Vail), Margaret Shotwell (Ballenger) 1785-1854, Ann Shotwell (Cohu(n)) 1787-1834, Hanna Murray Shotwell (Moore), Thomas Dobson Shotwell, Elizabeth Shotwell (Harned), Mary (Baby) Shotwell b. May 1793-d?, Mary Shotwell (2), and Deborah Shotwell. Researching more records for Margaret Ballenger and Ann Cohn, they are not linked at this time.

Henry died at 73 years of age. His burial recorded in Rahway & Plainfield MM records.
