Eric was 3 years old when his mother Mary Ann took the younger part of the family to Canada to join her husband Joseph and older son's near Lintlaw Saskatchewan.
In 1927 Eric decided to leave Saskatchewan for the Alberta Peace and a better life. He established a well running farm of mixed grain and hog production.
He Volunteered to the Canadian Army and went to the european front. It was there during the war that he met Celestine Cuppen de-Cooman during the liberation of Belgium.
Following the war Celestine and her young son came to Canada, about 1948. Eric met Celestine at the Strathcona Station and the couple married the next day. Eric brought his bride as far Pouce Coupe where Clinton & Hattie McCoy drove them over muddy roads to Bonanza.
Eric had the best sense of humour and loved a good time and laugh. He was famous with all his nieces and nephews. He was adored by his granddaughter.
Eric helped build the original Bonanza Hall. As well as a good farmer he was a great carpenter.
In his retirement years he made many trips back to Belgium with Celestine to visit her daughter and family there.
Eric will be best known for his steel blue eyes and a whistle you could hear three miles away.
He was a great person, we sure miss him.
